Portal Search of Related Records
This section details the search behaviour within a portal page when a similar record is related in two different accounts.
Use Case
For a better understanding, Ricardo1 linked to the Infinite Blue account and Ricardo2 linked to the Microsoft account. The focus is on adding a search form to a portal page and understand the behavior when searching for specific records.
Steps
-
Access Portal Page.
-
Navigate to the designated portal page.
-
-
Add a search form to the portal page.
-
Locate and select the [Search Results] – Account option on the portal page.
-
-
Choose Account - Infinite Blue:
-
Click on the option associated with the Infinite Blue account. This sets the record in scope to be the Infinite Blue account.
-
-
From the Page Designer:
-
Ensure that the record in scope is clearly identified as the Infinite Blue account.
-
-
Leads - Search:
-
Select Leads from the dropdown to filter the search specifically for leads associated with the selected account.
-
Initiate a search for records containing the term Ricardo within the scope of the selected account.
-
-
Review Search Result:
-
The result should ideally display only occurrences of Ricardo associated with the Infinite Blue account. But the search result displays No records to display when searching for Ricardo.
-
Examine the list view for Lead x Account [Portal] to ensure there are no viewer filter criteria affecting the results.
-
-
Wildcard Search - "Ricardo*":
-
Perform a wildcard search using "Ricardo*" and observe the list of occurrences.
-
The observed behavior is expected, within the search form for portal pages. The search retrieves all occurrences rather than filtering based on the record in scope.
