Creating portal pages

To add a page to a portal:

  1. On the portal's view page, click New Page.
The New Portal Page page opens.
  2. Check Only logged in portal users can access this page if you only want authenticated (logged-in) portal visitors to access this page.
  3. Select a page type:
    • Generic Page - A page in which you can embed list views (list of records of a specific object type) and arbitrary web content, such as HTML or JavaScript. A new page is initially empty.
    • Search Results Page - A page used to display the results of a search within a portal. A new page contains a list of objects.
    • Object View Page - A page to view a single record of a specific object type. A new page is initially empty.
    • Object Create Page - A page to create a single record of a specific object type. A new page contains a submission form.
    • Object Edit Page - A page to edit a single record of a specific object type. A new page contains a submission form.
    • Object Selector Page - A page in a popup window that is used to select related records when using a lookup field in an Object Create or Object Edit page. A new page contains a list of objects.
    • Login Form - A page specifically designed to allow portal users (Platform users and records with the Portal User attribute) to log in to a portal. A new page contains a login form with a user name and password.
    • Take Survey - A page where portal visitors can answer survey questions. You can only create a Take Survey page if the application for which you are creating the portal contains at least one object with the Survey attribute. A new page contains a list of survey answers. You must configure a Take Survey page to specify the survey record to use. See Portal page actions for instructions. Portal visitors must log in to the portal to take a survey.
  4. From the Object Type drop-down list, select the type of object to which this page should be associated:
For a Login Form, the list includes existing Platform users and objects with the Portal User attribute; you are creating a login page for a specific type of portal user.
For a Take Survey page, the list includes objects that have the Survey Taker attribute.
For any page type other than Generic Page, Login Form, or Take Survey, the list includes all available objects.
  5. Click Save.
After creating a portal page, you can modify it so its behavior meets your requirements.
